I love commissions!
The process of working with a client to design and produce the perfect painting (or multiple paintings) for their specific space and color choices is always a joy.
This is how the process works.
The client goes through my website to identify the style of painting they would like, landscape, abstract etc.
Next, I make a visit to the home in person or virtually. Understanding the other art in the clients collection, the decor, furniture, colors, the area in which the commission will hang, lighting and style is so helpful in creating a piece specifically for the home.
We agree on process and price, my prices are always based on size. Shipping and insurance are paid by the client.
Now the fun begins! I have enough information to get the painting started but first I do several watercolor sketches in different color combinations and send to my client, they approve one and I start painting!
The first 10 or so layers are building up texture, color and topography. After the under painting is complete another 10 to 40 layers will be applied, scraped back, added, reduced, added, until the painting is complete. This can take up to two months with drying time. The client sees photos of the painting every couple of weeks. When it is finally done, it needs to cure, this can take up to a month depending on humidity.
After delivering of shipping the client hangs their painting and the process is complete.
A letter of Provenance and receipt are included!
